Convoy
Guide

Progression

Convoy is Forza Horizon 6's co-op social layer — a shared open world session where you and up to 11 friends explore Japan together. You're not in a race; you're just playing the game side by side. Convoys come with XP bonuses, shared fast travel, and coordinated event voting that makes progression faster for everyone involved.

👥
Convoy vs Horizon Play: Convoy is open-world co-op (campaign + exploration). Horizon Play is structured competitive multiplayer. You can start a Convoy and then vote to join a Horizon Play event together — they're complementary, not competing.

01 Creating or Joining a Convoy

Convoys are accessed through the Social menu (Start → Social → Convoy). You can create a new convoy, join a friend's, or join a random public convoy.

1
Open the Social Menu
Press Start / Menu → navigate to the Social tab → select Convoy.
2
Create or Join
Select "Create Convoy" to become the Leader, or "Find Convoy" to join a friend's or public session. Set the privacy to Public, Friends Only, or Invite Only.
3
Invite Friends
As the Leader, open the Convoy roster and select "Invite." Friends who receive the invite can join directly from the notification. Max size: 12 players.
4
Start Playing
Once at least 2 players are in the Convoy, all bonuses activate. No minimum to start driving together — bonuses scale with member count.

02 Convoy Bonuses

Convoy play grants persistent multipliers on top of your normal earnings. These stack with Skill Chain bonuses and Festival Playlist event rewards.

Treasure Car shared pingBroadcastIf one member locates a Treasure Car, all see the map ping
💡
The fastest way to farm XP in FH6 is a full 12-player Convoy running Seasonal Championships. The +50% XP boost combined with event completion XP means you rank up Wristbands roughly twice as fast as solo play.

03 Convoy Features

🗺️
Shared Map Pings
Hold Back/View and tap the Map to drop a ping visible to all Convoy members. Use it to mark Barn Find locations, meeting spots, or event starts.
🗳️
Event Voting
The Leader can call a vote for any event on the map. All members see the vote prompt and can join. Majority accept = all members teleport to the event start.
🚗
Car Check
Before an event vote resolves, any Convoy member can open Car Check to inspect what everyone is driving and suggest a class change if needed.
🏆
Shared Milestones
Certain Festival Playlist tasks (e.g. "Win a Championship in Convoy") can only be completed in an active Convoy. These are clearly marked with a 👥 icon on the Playlist.
💬
Voice & Text Chat
Voice chat is automatic for Convoy members on console. PC players use the in-game text chat overlay (T to open). Cross-platform voice requires Xbox party.
🔀
Leader Transfer
The Leader can pass leadership to any member at any time via the Convoy roster. Useful when the original leader needs to leave but the group wants to continue.

04 Convoy vs Solo: What's Different

Most of the game plays identically in Convoy, but a few things change:

  • Other Convoy members appear as player ghosts on your map with a unique colored name tag above their car.
  • Traffic and AI drivatars still spawn normally — you're not in an isolated session.
  • Progression milestones (Wristbands, Stamps) advance independently for each player even in shared events.
  • If one player hasn't unlocked a region yet, they can still fast travel there via the Convoy Leader.
  • Auction House and Car Collection are always personal — you can't browse another player's garage.
  • PR Stunts are solo only — driving a Speed Zone in Convoy will register your personal score but won't give the group bonus.
⚠️
Convoy sessions require an online connection. If your internet drops, you'll be moved to a solo offline session automatically. Progress and Credits earned before the disconnect are saved.

05 Tips for Getting the Most from Convoy

  • Run Seasonal Championship events in Convoy for maximum XP per hour — the +50% bonus on a full convoy stacks on top of the championship completion reward.
  • Designate one player to collect Barn Find rumors and Treasure Car locations — they broadcast to the whole group, saving everyone the exploration time.
  • For the Trial (co-op championship vs AI), form a Convoy of exactly 6 and use the event vote to join together — you'll always be on the same team.
  • New players should join an experienced friend's Convoy to access high-level regions via fast travel before they've unlocked them through Stamps.
  • Use the Spec Racing event vote when everyone has different PI builds — it equalizes cars and makes the race actually competitive within your group.
